Vacancy Details

A total of 2218 tentative Nursing Officer vacancies have been announced through NORCET 11 across AIIMS New Delhi and other participating AIIMS institutes/hospitals, as well as Central Government hospitals. As per the Government of India’s Central Institute Body decision, 80% of seats are reserved for female candidates and 20% for male candidates across participating AIIMS.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must meet one of the following educational criteria:

• Option 1:

  1. B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognized Institute or University.
  2. OR B.Sc. (Post-Certificate) / Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognized Institute/University.
  3. Registered as a Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council.

• Option 2:

  1. Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognized Institute/Board/Council.
  2. Registered as a Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council.
  3. Two years of experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital after obtaining the essential qualification (i.e., after completing residency, declaration of result, and council registration). (Note: B.Sc. Nursing candidates are generally not required to have prior experience.)

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age as of the last date of application, which is August 13, 2026.

Age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the extant rules of the Government of India.

Nationality

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected Nursing Officers through NORCET 11 will be appointed at Level 07 in the Pay Matrix, under Group-B classification. This corresponds to the pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs. 9,300–34,800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4,600/-. The basic pay for a newly appointed Nursing Officer starts at ₹44,900. In addition to the basic pay, posts also carry usual allowances admissible to Central Government servants of similar status, such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and Nursing Allowance, making the gross monthly salary typically range between ₹80,000 to ₹1,01,000, depending on the city of posting and other factors. The estimated in-hand salary is approximately ₹55,000 to ₹75,000 per month.

The application fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. Any transaction/processing fee applicable will be borne by the candidate. It is important to note that the application fee, once remitted, is non-refundable under any circumstances, except for SC/ST candidates. SC/ST candidates who appear in the examination will have their fee refunded after the declaration of results and successful verification of their certificates.

Selection Process

The selection process for AIIMS NORCET 11 involves a two-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by document verification and a medical examination.

1. NORCET Preliminary (Stage I) Examination:
   • This is a qualifying examination of 90 minutes duration.
   • It consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 100 marks.
   • The paper includes 20 questions on General Knowledge & Aptitude and 80 questions on Nursing subjects.
   • There is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.
   • Marks obtained in Stage I are only for qualifying for Stage II and are not used for the final merit list.
   • Qualifying marks are 50 percentile for UR/EWS, 45 percentile for OBC, and 40 percentile for SC/ST candidates, with a further 5 percentile relaxation for PwBD candidates.
2. NORCET Mains (Stage II) Examination:
   • Candidates who qualify in Stage I will be called for Stage II.
   • This examination is of 180 minutes duration.
   • It comprises 160 case-scenario-based MCQs for 160 marks, entirely covering the nursing syllabus, designed to test clinical skill competency.
   • Negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer applies.
   • The marks obtained in Stage II alone determine the final selection and merit list.
   • Qualifying marks are 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST candidates, with a similar 5% relaxation for PwBD candidates.
3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will undergo verification of their educational and category certificates.
